The first full week of Technical Meetings on the AI Omnibus is over and we are coming closer to the finish line. Strasburg next week will be decisive. Despite the super ambitious timeline, there is an actual chance that the parliamentarians will strike a compromise in time. This would allow the co-legislators to start the trilogue in April as planned.

AI Omnibus – The Timeline
EU policymakers are under a lot of pressure to postpone the AI Act’s high-risk obligations in time. Those rules would otherwise apply on 02 August 2026. To finish the legislative procedure before, the Parliament must conclude the discussion on its draft report before April and seek a quick deal with the EU Member States.

AI Omnibus – The Policymakers
EU policymakers face a tough political call. Not only do many EU firms feel ill-prepared when it comes to the high-risk obligation of the AI Act, the European Commission and Member States also did not manage to establish the required governance mechanism. At the same time, critics however point out that the AI Omnibus questions important political achievements and would undermine legal safeguards of EU citizens.

AI Omnibus – The Documents
It is easy to get lost with leaks and rumors. Below you find therefore a list of the official documents that can be found on the various website of the EU Institutions. My blogpost does not contain any leaks but lists those official documents on one page in order to make them more accessible for everyone interested in the Digital Omnibus on AI.
