The AI Act: timeline (April update Vol 3)

Four Technical Meetings and two Shadows Meetings scheduled in European Parliament over the next 10 days. The vote in the IMCO/LIBE committee is now scheduled for Thursday, 11 May. The vote in plenary likely takes place in June. The Trilogue would officially start in June but fall mainly under the Spanish Presidency.

Where are the negotiations in the European Parliament right now and what are the last contested points?

◾ Batch 14 with newly proposed Articles (TBD: general principles/sustainability assessment)

We made significant progress but there was not enough time to solve all open points. Politically, Art 5 is very disputed and for groups difficult to find a middle ground. On technical level, the Recitals will require more time as well as the additional articles, while there was a breakthrough on GPAI and AI value chain.
